Local resources following Sarah Everard Tragedy
The UK is reeling from the tragic death of local woman, Sarah Everard. If you are looking for ways to share your experiences, contribute to fundraisers and bring about change, here are some local resources which may help:
Reclaim These Streets, which advocates for safe public spaces, is holding a fundraiser for women's charitable causes.
An art fundraiser has been set up by local artist, Louise Gillard, to raise money for Reclaim These Streets.
Petitions have been launched to ask for more lighting on Tooting Common and improvements to lighting on Clapham Common.
A petition has also been set up asking for free transport for low income women at night.
MP for Tooting, Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, has a page on her website where people can share their experiences of near-misses and sexual harassment. She has also written to the council asking for lighting on Tooting and Wandsworth Commons to be improved.
For Female Sake is a new website set up by Harry Hopkins, a Tooting resident, for men to learn about feminism and social injustices to make a difference for the future.
