Hearing Hospitality: Ben, Co-Owner of Love Triangle PIzza
Restaurants have never been in greater jeopardy. Closures and redundancies are threatening the hospitality industry on an unprecedented level, however, new businesses are emerging from within the chaos.
As Ben, one of the co-owners of Balham’s Love Triangle Pizza on Ritherdon Road emphasises, “necessity breeds innovation” which has largely attributed to the success of his new-found business.
Launched in the first lockdown and aware of the changing eating behaviours of the public, the founders of Love Triangle saw the need to successfully market themselves as a takeaway/delivery service because of the demand for such orders.
“We built and enhanced our business model around the lockdown environment we were in. The business was modelled in mind of any potential changes that could foreseeably happen in lockdown - so we’ve primarily focused and prepared our attention toward operating on a takeaway service level.”
“We like to think of ourselves as being quite flexible, so we’ve put a lot of emphasis on branding our delivery service. Potentially, this is why we haven’t experienced challenges in the way other restaurants have. We’ve actually recorded growth each month, seeing that the more severe the restrictions, the more we’ve grown. This is because there is a great demand for delivery and collection which we have prepared for and offer.”
“There are challenges that we do face but these are bound to happen to any new and fast-growing business. No doubt the pandemic has amplified some of these challenges but the requirement to adapt and change is inevitable in any context of a growing business.
We’re growing incredibly fast and still have a long way to go but our proudest accomplishment has been our charitable work - we’ve distributed over 8000 meals to Wandsworth Foodbank and will be sure to match or even better beat this number in the new year.”
Love Triangle Pizza is not only a great new addition to the Balham restaurant scene, but their charitable work is a fantastic show of kindness in a time where supporting our local community is crucial.
For every pizza sold, Love Triangle are able to donate one meal to Wandsworth Foodbank. You can visit their website here to get 20% off your first delivery or collection order! You’ll find them at 16-18 Ritherdon Road, Balham.
Thanks to Ben for sharing how his business is faring at this time.
