Black History Month celebrated in the local area

Balham Library is showcasing books by brilliant black authors for teens and young adults and also has a book section dedicated to Black History Month.
St George’s Hospital will be be posting profiles of BAME staff members on their website to find out what the importance of the month means to them, beginning with midwife Adebola Aroboto.
St George’s University of London have launched their new campaign, Black and Beyond: Celebrating Black Excellence. This campaign is a student/staff collaboration prompted by their students. Find out more here.
Local historian Summerstown 182 has created an historic cycle ride around Tooting, especially devised for Black History Month. Participants can make a donation here towards another historic blue plaque to mark a forgotten piece of musical heritage right in the middle of Tooting! Details here.
