Charity art auction to be held at Ravenstone Primary School!
An Art Auction will be held at Ravenstone Primary School on Thursday 19th September in order to raise vital funds to complete the Wild Place, a community project started in the school’s playground earlier this year.
The idea is to bring nature into the playground and encourage wildlife, to extend the children’s learning outdoors. Members of the school community have been working tirelessly over the summer to create the garden, which will include a treehouse, planting beds, an insect hotel and many other features.
There is still more work to be done, including creating a pond, a willow walkway, rainwater harvesting and more planting, but they need more funds to be able to complete the project and that is where the auction comes in. Over 20 Lots will be auctioned with the help of Rosebury’s Auction House of West Norwood. Artists include Imelda Almqvist, Sarah Cemmick, Jenny Barron as well as three pieces by Tipperleyhill donated by Mimi V Artworks Gallery in Balham, and a limited edition, signed 'Mad Dogs' by Jack Vettriano, kindly donated by Railings Gallery.
Entry is £2 with a free glass of Prosecco upon arrival. A bar and nibbles will also be available. The event starts at 6:30pm with an opportunity to view the artwork, followed by a welcome at 7pm by Richard Couldrey, Project Coordinator and the first round of the auction at 7:15pm. There will then be a talk by Mimi Vanger, local Gallery owner, at 8pm followed by the second round of the auction at 8:20pm. The event will end at approximately 9:30pm.
Ravenstone Primary School is located on Ravenstone Street, SW12 9SS. For more information, contact Claire Knapp on 07930 461117. You can also follow the project’s progress on Instagram or Twitter.
