From DIY shops and urban dance classes, to ice-cream parlours and German-themed pubs, a plethora of brilliant new businesses have sprung up in Balham since the start of the year. Here’s our roundup in case you’ve missed any!
Syreena has opened Lux Rose , specialising in the sale & installation of lace wigs (both Afro & European), lashes and male units as well as beauty treatments such as botox fillers, nail care & waxing. The business is located at 2 Bedford Hill (downstairs from Gemini Salon) and open 7 days a week from 10am-8pm (as well as for out of hours appointments). There's also a free bar to tuck into while you're being looked after!π·
Bamboo, a business offering different types of massage (including Chinese Tuina & Deep Tissue) as well as reflexology, has opened at 65 Bedford Hill!
Alice’s Studio, a nail and beauty salon at 63 Balham Hill, is now open! They do nails, waxing, lashes, massages and more!
Bella Bar & Restaurant has opened πat 47 Balham Hill (where Brick & Liquor used to be) serving freshly-made Italian/Mediterranean dishes & great wine in a relaxed atmosphere.
Local chef, Angella, has launched Delicious Deliveries , bringing fresh & tasty home-cooked Caribbean food direct to homes across Balham & Streatham Hill every Thursday evening! Simply request a menu via Instagram or Facebook and select your dishes, pay the Sunday in advance then receive a delicious delivery on Thursday evening!β£
Wolfgang's Beer Haus has opened atπ90 Balham High Road! π©πͺπΊ This German / Alpine-themed pub serves premium German beers, innovative cocktails & fresh, authentic food.
ORIX Property Solutions, a full-service property maintenance company, has just moved into a new office on Westbury Parade. ORIX provides a complete range of services including building, general maintenance, electrical, plumbing, professional cleaning, help with appliances, removals & storage! Owner Zak grew up in the local area and most of his jobs are in around Balham - he’s currently fitting out a new Vape shop on Balham Hill.
Balham DIY, an independent, family-run general DIY store has opened at 253 Balham High Road. As well as everything one would expect in a DIY store, the shop sells gardening equipment, household cleaning products, electrical accessories, stationery and offers colour mixing.
Parish Coffee has opened within Ascension Balham Church on Malwood Road. Funded entirely by the congregation at Ascension, this community café has been the dream of the Vicar, Marcus, for the last two years who wanted the church to be open throughout the week - not just on Sundays. That dream is now a reality.β£ Parish Coffee is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm and they have wi-fi!
Jane (pictured left) has launched Baby Hive , providing tailored local care for pregnant women, new parents and their babies through antenatal, hypnobirthing & early days workshops, as well as breastfeeding support & home visits. A Balham resident for nearly 30 years, Jane and her co-founder Lizzie (based in Guildford) are both midwives and health visitors by profession and wanted to create a service where individual needs are met.β£
Jefferson's Ice Cream has officially opened its doors πat 191b Balham High Road, selling freshly-made ice cream (from their in-house kitchen), coffees, waffles & much more besides! Their ice-cream is made using the very best natural ingredients (including real dairy organic milk) and free of artificial flavours and colours.β£
Vape London has opened a new location in Balham! Located at 4 Westbury Parade, Balham Hill, it’s a one stop shop for all your vaping needs!
Local resident & makeup artist Siddickah has started her own freelance business – Make Up With Sid – providing both bespoke makeup services as well as one-on-one makeup lessons! Having worked in the industry for over 10 years (with brands such as Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Estée Lauder & Chanel), Sid decided it was high time to strike out on her own and already has a number of clients in the Balham area who she sees either in their home, or at her home-based studio.β£

Local resident Alysia has launched LYfeStyle Dance , bringing urban dance classes to the local area to give you the ultimate lifestyle boost!β£ A compliance officer by day, Alysia's now a dance teacher by night and will be running weekly classes out of the Indigo Light Studios on Balham High Road.

Uncommon Cafe has opened on Hildreth Street! The bright and welcoming cafe serves freshly made pastries, cakes, coffee, brunch, light lunches and more!
Balham resident Marissa has launched a new local Personal Training business , MPower. Having taught in many top boutique studios, Marissa wants to bring a fresh training approach to the local area, through both 1-2-1 and group classes.β£
